The inauguration of Margazhi Isai Vizha, jointly presented by Prasar Bharati (Indian Broadcasting Corporation, All India Radio, Chennai) and Academy of Indian Music and Arts (AIMA), will be held on December 2, 10 a.m., at the AIR's multi-track recording studio, Kamarajar Salai. S. Jagathrakshagan, Minister of State, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, presides.

Prof. T.V. Gopalakrishnan, musician and founder, Indian Music and Arts Academy, Chennai, will be present on the occasion. K. Srinivasaraghavan, additional chief director, AIR, South Zone, delivers the welcome address.

The special programmes from December 2 to 6 will be held in the evenings, from 6 to 7 p.m. and from 7.15 to 8.15 p.m.

The events open with Udaiyalur K. Kalyanaraman on December 2, 6 p.m. followed by T.V. Sankaranarayanan's vocal at 7.15 p.m.

O. S. Thyagarajan's concert has been scheduled for the next evening (December 3), 6 p.m. and M.S. Gopalakrishnan's violin recital at 7.15 p.m.

On December 4, gear up for N. Ravikiran's treat on the chitraveena at 6 p.m., after which S. Sowmya will present an hour-long vocal concert. Suguna Varadachari sings on December 5 at 6 p.m., and it will be R. Vedavalli an hour and 15 minutes later. The evening (6 p.m.)of December 6 features a veena recital by E.Gayathri and T.V. Gopalakrishnan's vocal (7.15 p.m.).

Broadcast schedule

The concerts will be broadcast from the studios of AIR's Chennai 1, from December 16 to 25, everyday at 8.45 a.m. The schedule is:
