The five-day Natyanjali festival began on the premises of Lord Nataraja temple here on Wednesday evening.

The event was inaugurated by Leela Samson, Bharatanatyam exponent and chairperson of the Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi. She said the fete provided an ideal platform for artists of various classical forms from all over the country and abroad.

She congratulated the Natyanjali Trust for organising the festival with utmost dedication and care. Interesting dance programmes such as “Nrithya Sangamam,” representing multi-cultural ethos, had been lined up for the occasion, she said.

Neyveli Lignite Corporation Director (Mines) Surender Mohan in his speech said that the annual fete provided an opportunity to the connoisseurs of arts and culture to witness different kinds of classical dance forms at one place.
