The Kalakshetra Quarterly was an initiative started by Rukmini Devi Arundale at Kalakshetra. Brought out those days in a magazine-cum-journal format, the quarterly featured essays and articles by scholars and experts on varied topics such as dance, music, sculpture, art, education, art interpretation, lyrics and personalities. It was a rich depository of information and insight into art and aesthetics. It also proved to be a platform of expression for young researchers and established exponents from varied fields. It was a forum for healthy exchange of research ideas and interaction on subjects related to the arts.

Now, this quarterly has been revived, and its first issue was released recently. It is a revival issue and features some wonderful and rare articles from past Quarterlies that were written by peerless scholars. The revival of the Quarterly is an endeavour to display the thoughts and opinions of great artists and visionaries and is an extension of the idea that Rukmini Devi conceived that art and life are inseparable and therefore, immersing oneself in the arts will contribute to a holistic living.

The Journal is priced at Rs.250 and is available for sale at the Kalakshetra Foundation, Tiruvanmiyur, Chennai.
