The late Krishnakumari, wife of veteran journalist Turlapaty Kutumabarao, was a fine dancer, choreographer and a well known teacher of dance. Her birth anniversary was fittingly celebrated at Sri Sivaramakrishna Kshetram, Vijayawada by Krishna Kala Bharathi.
Mandali Buddha Prasad, former minister, M.V. Ratna Bindu, Mayor of Vijayawada, Mangalagiri Aditya Prasad, Station Director of Akashvani and several others participated in the meeting and praised the services rendered by late Krishnakumari to the field of dance. In the meeting presided over by Turlapati Kutumba Rao several speakers praised the gesture of Kutumbarao in instituting an annual award to be given to a deserving artiste. While speaking on the occasion, Balarama Murthy of Krishna Kala Bharathi declared that a trust would be formed soon in the name of the late dancer and also announced a personal donation of Rs.10,000 as his contribution. Noted dancer and choreographer Suravarapu Ramesh Babu was honoured on the occasion.
Stealing hearts
In the programme organised by Bharathamuni Arts Academy, Vijayawada at Kshetrayya Kalakshetram, several highly talented young singers, namely Srilata, Nikhita, Haripriya, Sai Venkat, Raviteja, Sravya and Mounika regaled the audience with their melodious rendering of devotional songs and movie numbers. A few songs that impressed were Om Maha Prana Deepam, Palakadilo, Sankara Nada Sareera Para and Omkara Nadanusandhaname . Mayor Ratnabindu, K. Prabhakara Reddy, retired I.A.S. officer, psychiatrist and president of the function Dr. Indra Ramasubba Reddy, film producer Ambika Krishna and others congratulated the organisers for encouraging talented youngsters. The function ended with an impressive magic show by M. Ramesh.
