The occasion includes 'Shanmuka' - a Carnatic music recital by Sikkil Gurucharan, with B.U. Ganeshprasad (violin), K.V. Prasad (mridangam) and B.S. Purushothaman (kanjira), at 6.15 p.m. 'Shanmuka' will be followed by 'Aparajita -The Unvanquished' - a dance drama sourced from 'Devi Mahatmiyam.'

Prof. C. V. Chandrasekhar provides the music and choreography for 'Aparajita' which will be presented by Nrithyashree - an ensemble of accomplished dancers from prestigious institutions such as Kalakshetra (7.45 p.m.)

Prof. C.V. Chandrasekhar, formerly head of the Department of Dance, M.S. University, Baroda and trained in dance and music at Kalakshetra, is a renowned performer and respected teacher who has been deeply involved in the arts for than six decades.

A third generation musician from a family of flautists, Sikkil Gurucharan trained under Vaigal Gnanaskandan, who is from the Semmangudi School of Music. Grandson of Sikkil Sisters Kunjumani and Neela and nephew and disciple of Mala Chandrasekar, Gurucharan adds a refreshing touch to traditional singing.

Thus a treat awaits connoisseurs of music and dance.
