Kalayagnyam presents ‘Kadhalagi Kasindhu – A Magical Journey of Love’, on January 31, 6.30 p.m., at Sri Mutha Venkata Subba Rao Concert Hall, Lady Andal School, Harrington Road. The dance show which is for 90 minutes, is a First Xpressions Studio production, with creative direction, visualisation and conceptualisation by actor and dancer Aparna Pillai, who is also in charge of sets and costume design.

Described by the makers as an Indian version of a Broadway Musical, the event has an imposing lyrical and technical support. A senior Bharatanatyam artist with two decades of experience, Kavitha Ramu, is the choreographer of ‘Kadhalagi …’ Kavitha, Aparna and a host of capable dancers will present the ballet.

Revathy Sankkaran, who makes a spell-binding impact on the Chennai audience with her multifarious artistic skills, is the lyricist, and B.V. Balasai, the well-known flautist who has made a mark in various genres of music viz., classical, film and fusion, is the composer. Rhythm too is in strong hands with D.A. Srinivas helming it. Interestingly, Sivaji Chaturvedi, a name that is gaining momentum in the magic arena, is part of the show and hence you can expect tricks and special effect thrills. Aerial stunts on stage promise an incredible experience.

A collection of 10 stories from mythology, legend and history have been chosen to depict the different aspects of love. Similarly Bharatanatyam, folk, kalari, and contemporary dance styles have been woven in.
