Bhavan’s music festival

The curtain on the annual cultural festival of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan goes up this evening at Dr. Preetha Reddy Auditorium, Mylapore. Sri Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Chief Justice of Madras High Court, will be the chief guest. The P. Obul Reddy and P. Gnanambal Memorial Awards for Life Time Achievement will be presented to Bombay Jayashri Ramnath and E. Gayathri . The ceremony will be followed by Jayashri’s vocal concert.

Bhavan’s cultural awards , 2014, go to Subhashree Ramachandran, Saashwathi Prabhu, (both vocal), P.N. Venkataraman (tambura), S. Anjani (veena), S. Ashwini (mridangam) and S. Mahathi (keyboard).

A series of music concerts will be held up to December 12 with Naatya Utsav taking over on December 13 at TAG Auditorium, Kilpauk.

Life Time Achievement Award will be given to Alarmel Valli.

Bhavan’s second edition of music series will be held from December 26-January 12 at Bhavan’s P.A.C. Ramasamy Raja Hall (Mylapore).
