A group of artists who studied at the M.S. University, Baroda, have come together as The Baroda Brigade I. The works of Pijush Patra, Deepak Khatri, Kruti Mukherjee, Rahul Mukherjee, Neha Lavingia and Loknath Sinha are being showcased at Apparao Galleries till October 17.
Kruti Mukherjee combines organic or manmade objects in his creations, to uncover the dual nature of the apparent. Loknath Sinha’s works are based on life… at a time when everything seems universal.
Neha Lavingia uses imagery of various seen, but mostly ignored natural objects in our fast-paced world, in her works. Rahul Mukherjee’s work is about creating hybrid beings.
Deepak Khatri’s sculptures have fruits as subjects, because he feels no one comes up with advertising for fruits. Pijush Patra creations are interactive, and his works chronicle the uncertainty and impermanency of changes.
The gallery is at No 7, Wallace Gardens, III Street, Nungambakkam, and is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. For details, call 2833 2226.
