Degrees were conferred on 798 students of the MBA course offered by its ICFAI Business School (IBS) at the ICFAI University convocation. Vidyadhar Reddy Katkuri stood first and received the Faiyaz Ahmed Khan Memorial Gold Medal (topper in Finance) while second rank was bagged by Puneet Kapoor who received the Saurabh Sharma Memorial Gold Medal (topper in Marketing). Mansi Matela was declared the best All Rounder.

The winners of the two prestigious gold medals were honoured by Prathap C. Reddy, Chairman, Apollo Hospitals Group. Abid Hussain, Chancellor, ICFAI presided. Dr. Prathap Reddy said that knowledge was replacing other resources as the main engine of economic growth, and as the new knowledge economy is necessarily global the reach of the universities must also be global. He congratulated the school for being among the top institutions in the world to win the European Case Clearing House (ECCH) awards.

Sharing his vision Tejaswy Nandury, CEO, ICFAI University Group said that making learning an experience for students was the passion of the varsity and the achievements of students and faculty were worth appreciating. J. Mahender Reddy, Vice-Chancellor ICFAI University presented the varsity report.

He said even in the year of slower economic growth 550 out of 798 students have already been placed with an average salary of Rs 5.8 lakh and the highest offer being Rs. 10 lakh.

Conference

Emerging issues in Business Analytics and Knowledge Management came up for discussion at the international conference on “Business Intelligence, Analytics and Knowledge Management”, organised by the IBS Hyderabad.

The conference was attended by 36 research scholars from India and abroad and 37 papers were presented on a variety of topics ranging from issues in television advertisements of fairness creams to how social media has become an undeniable influence on customer care and customer loyalty.

C.K. Lakshminarayan, Principal Research Scientist, H P Labs, USA (currently visiting Professor, at IIT Hyderabad) shared his experience with vibrant examples from two contemporary verticals Healthcare and Oil & Gas Exploration.

He mentioned about Vision 2020 of “information everywhere” wherein he stated about the use of sensors from healthcare patient information to seismic data collection. He highlighted scope of future studies in cyber physical systems and industrial internet applications.
