“Daily revision of lessons helped in preparing for the examinations,” says I. Justin Xavier, who came State third in the SSLC exams. A student of Kalaimagal Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Thirumullaivoyal, he has scored 495 out of 500, with a centum in Mathematics and Science, 98 in Tamil and English, and 99 in Social studies.
“When the change in syllabus was announced, I was very tense. After the classes began in August, I found Samacheer syllabus to be easy,” he says.
Stating that he revised the lessons daily to avoid last-minute tension, Justin said special classes and regular revision tests helped him with the new syllabus.
“We didn't have previous year question papers to bank on, which was an advantage. It is safe to study for exams from textbooks.”
Justin aspires to become an IAS officer. Thanking his parents and teachers, he said their constant encouragement and support helped him to score well.
Anjala Beegum, a student of DAV Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Mogappair, came first in the Class X exams, with a centum in Sanskrit, and is the subject topper in the State. She has scored 497 out of 500, with a centum in Mathematics and Science, 99 in Social Studies, and 98 in English.
"I thank my Sanksrit teacher, Sridhar Venkatramani, for coaching me in the subject. I am going to choose Biology as I want to become a doctor,” she says.
She attended yoga classes conducted in her school to improve her concentration and focus level.
Samanavitha Venkatramani from DAV Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Mogappair, came State third in Sanskrit.
She scored 494 out of 500, with a centum in Mathematics, 99 in Science, 98 in English, and 97 in Social Studies.
“The syllabus was easy. It was concept-oriented like CBSE. Daily revision of lessons and regular unit tests in the school proved to be very useful,” she says. Samanavitha also wants to become a doctor.
A. Janani of Velammal Matriculation Higher Secondary School is State first in English. She scored 495 out of 500, with centum in Social Studies, 99 in Mathematics, 99 in Science and 96 in Tamil.
“I found the syllabus very easy. I want to become a Cardiologist. I want to thank my parents and teachers for their motivation and encouragement,” she said.
