As many as 5,000 graduate teacher posts will be filled before December-end, Thangam Thennarasu, School Education Minister, said here on Thursday.

Addressing a function organised to distribute identity cards for the KVVT beneficiaries at Sundekuppam panchayat, Mr. Thennarasu said that the government had already started the recruitment process.

He said the government was according priority to giving good education to children and improving health facilities for people.

While appointing graduate teachers, the government would give priority to fill vacant posts in Krishnagiri district as a special consideration to improve the educational standards.

Replying to a query, he said the government would find a permanent solution to the problem of vacancies of teachers in the hill districts.

“This is a perennial problem not only in Krishnagiri district, but also in all the hill districts.”

The government is ready to construct additional buildings for schools that do not have proper buildings, if land is purchased by the schools using their own funds or with the financial help from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Mr. Thennarasu said.
