The Framework, developed by the National Council for Teacher Education, deals with preparing and re-orienting teachers for enabling the child to learn through activities, discovery and exploration of his environment and surroundings in a child-friendly and child-centred manner. It focuses on inclusive education, perspective of equitable and sustainable development, gender perspectives, role of community knowledge in education and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in schooling as well as e-learning.

Mr. Sibal said the focus was towards preparing professional and humane teacher who becomes a reflective practitioner of educational thought and practice. The Framework was guided by the National Curriculum Framework, 2005 and the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, which would be notified on April 1. The Framework was evolved through a nationwide consultative and participatory process involving experts, teacher educators, teachers, researchers, educational administrators, material writers from NCERT, universities, colleges and State governments.
