Representatives of the International Centre for Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Diseases, a unit of Dr. K.M. Cherian Heart Foundation, and RMK Engineering College, signed a Memorandum of Understanding for proposed collaborative research in areas related to health monitoring systems in cardiovascular care.

K.M. Cherian, chairman, Frontier Lifeline Hospital, and R.S. Munirathinam, chairman, RMK Engineering College, inked the agreement last week at the hospital premises. As per the MoU, they propose to work together closely in areas of healthcare management and development of indigenous diagnostic tools in the cardiovascular specialty.

Apart from this, they will submit a joint proposal for research on biotechnology under the Indo-Australian Fund for Science and Technology. “We are proud to be associated with one of the leading engineering colleges for collaborative research in the field of biotechnology. The tools, which will be developed as a part of the research, will help diagnose cardiac ailments more accurately. Also, products developed in-house will reduce the cost of surgery significantly,” Dr. Cherian said.

Mr. Munirathinam expressed his hope that the college's association with the hospital would contribute to the betterment of society.
