Karnataka State AIDS Prevention Society and District AIDS Control Cell have jointly organised magic shows in various pre-university and First Grade colleges to create awareness on HIV/AIDS. Magician K.S. Nagabhushan performed the shows which entertained the students along with creating awareness about the disease.

Addressing the gathering at Methodist Pre-University College for Girls, district AIDS control cell officer Hemavathi said the magic show conducted last year has made a good impact on society. Hence it was decided to continue the show this year also. Shows will last till September 21. She lauded Mr. Nagabhushan’s efforts in spreading message against the disease. “Sexual interest leads adolescents and youths towards bad practices, causing damage to their future. The campaign is being carried out to make the youths be aware against such trends,” she said.

“Yavvana Jopana Abhiyana” campaign will be held as part of International Youth Day in 37 educational institutions in all five taluks of Kolar district where Red Ribbon Club exists. “Awareness is the best way to keep away the dreaded disease though there are medicines for it”, Mr. Nagabhushan said.

The show was sponsored by the NSS unit at the Government College for Women. NSS coordinator L. Vinutha and principal Anjanappa participated.
