A programme to create awareness about the laws which deal with atrocities against women and children was organised at the T. Thimmaiah Institute of Technology (TTIT) at Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) in association with the Champion Reef police station on August 26.

Addressing the large number of girl students at the seminar hall of the college, Deputy Superintendent of Police A.K. Vivekananda called upon women to have proper knowledge of laws for their safety. Women should come forward to bring to the notice of police the atrocities and harassment being perpetrated against them. It will help police to control and punish anti-social elements, he said.

Syed Ariff, principal of TTIT, expressed concern over growing sexual atrocities against women. All sections of the society should cooperate in removing the evil, he said.

Sub-Inspector Madhusudan and lecturer Subrahmanya spoke.
