The joint social entrepreneurship practicum between Columbia University and IMT Hyderabad saw students studying a host of problems related to areas such as minority women and development, problems of the homeless and elderly, community development, marketing problems of the weaving community among others.
The joint programme involving 12 students from Columbia University and 10 students from the Entrepreneurship and Development class of IMT Hyderabad saw students using frameworks of development and business to assess the problems and come up with solutions.
The programme involved field trips in the rural setting in Bhimavaram, a social marketing exercise, a cooking class and joint consulting projects. As a part of the conclusion of the course, the students made final presentations of the joint consulting projects to the client organisations. The presentations were based on the mini consulting exercises they did over a period of four days.
Dr. Pandurango Rao, Director, IMT Hyderabad said it was a fruitful exercise and the institution will always support and welcome their efforts. Some of the best presentations made by the Social Marketing Exercise Teams were rewarded at the closing ceremony.
