Flow of knowledge To facilitate better cultural and educational collaboration between Sudanese and Turkish Universities, a collaboration forum and education fair was hosted by the Ministry of Sudanese Higher Education in partnership with Turkish Higher Education Council. Besides planning about joint projects and exchange of faculty members and students, the event, held in Khartoum, Sudan, aimed to establish an International Sudanese-Turkish University to serve African countries. Around 160 MoUs were signed between 23 Turkish and 30 Sudanese universities.
Study matters In order to meet the workforce demands of the state of California over the next decade, Timothy P., Chancellor of California State University, announced a plan to substantially increase graduation rates. Outlining an ambitious agenda to increase graduation rates for freshmen and transfer students, White demanded more funds from the government to achieve its goals. The Public Policy Institute of California had earlier projected that the state will need one million more college graduates by 2025 to prevent a shortage of workforce.
A grand welcome It is usually a happy affair when students realise that they have been accepted by the university of their choice. However, University of Maryland, College Park, U.S, decided to notch things up by personally notifying the selected students through its terrapin mascot. Six students, who had been accepted by the university for fall 2015 were paid a visit by the admission staff members, along with the school’s mascot. The reactions of the students were recorded on Twitter, drawing tweets from other applicants hoping for a visit too!
