Workshop: The Department of Information Science and Engineering, Gogte Institute of Technology (GIT), under the banner of Association for Computing Machinery conducted a “Workshop on Python Programming” for its all circuit branch students from Computer Science, Electronics & Communications and Master of Computer Applications here recently. Swapnil Patnekar, an open source evangelist of Belagavi, spoke about the history of Python, importance of Python programming and its wide use as general-purpose, high-level programming language in giant IT industries like Google, Yahoo, CERN, NASA, ILM, and ITA.

Staff coordinator S.F. Rodd enlightened the importance of Python programming in the IT industry. Dean (Academics) GIT and president of the function, D. A. Kulkarni, advised students to focus more on software development, programming and logical skill development. Student Vaishnavi Babli anchored the event. S.A. Kulkarni, Head of the Department of Information Science and Engineering, highlighted the objectives of the workshop.

International Skill & Drills Workshop for Obstetricians and Midwives: KLE University’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, in collaboration with the University of East Anglia, Norwich, under the U.K.-India Education & Research Initiative (UKIERI) grants funded by British Council conducted a three-day “International Workshop on Skills & Drills for Obstetricians & Midwives” from April 1 to 3. The workshop focused on topics such as Massive Obstetric Haemorrhage, Eclampsia, Shoulder Dystocia, Sepsis, Breech and Twins Delivery, followed by skills & drills sessions for these topics.

Jayne Needham, Anna Harris and Stephen Wilkinson, faculty from School of Health Sciences, University of East Anglia, were the resource persons for the workshop, said KLEU Registrar V.D. Patil. More than 50 delegates from Karnataka and Maharashtra participated in the event.

Champion: KLE Society’s College of Business Administration, Lingaraj College (CBALC), emerged as general championship winner at “The Start Up fest” organised by the KLES Institute of Management Studies & Research, Hubballi, a national-level management fest. More than 20 colleges participated in the event.

Students of KLE CBALC won the general championship and students Shridhar Malji and Kartik Ved won the first prize in the quiz. Abhishek More and Sourabh Hidduggi won the second place in Social Pressure. Mudassir Patel, Lingangouda Patil and Arungouda Patil were the other members of the winning team.
