MANGALORE: Bob Blackman, MP, UK giving away a certificate of excellence to Ravi Vaswani, former Registrar of Yenepoya University, Mangalore, recenlty. FOR EDUCATION PLUS

Certificate of excellence: Yenepoya University was awarded a certificate of excellence as a great place to study at a programme arranged in the House of Commons, London, recently. Bob Blackman, MP, gave away the certificate.

SkillTree knowledge consortium, a consultancy agency for universities, had selected Yenepoya University from among 20 universities from India as a top educational institute. Ravi Vaswani, former Registrar of the university, received the certificate.

Workshop: Computer science teachers of Dakshina Kannada pre-university colleges organised a workshop at St. Aloysius Pre-University College, Mangalore.

Speaking after inaugurating the workshop, the principal of the college, Melwin Mendonca, said that a teacher could emerge as the best only if he/she updated knowledge through extensive reading.

Faculty development: Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, Mangalore, organised a faculty development programme on ‘Enhancing competency for quality teaching’.

Chidanand Gavimath, Special Officer, Entrepreneurship Development Cell, VTU, inaugurated it. Umesh Bhushi, Principal, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, presided over the function.

In addition, the college had organised an orientation programme for parents of new entrants to the engineering stream at the college.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering gave a presentation about the college and a comprehensive overview about the various activities and achievements of the college.

Umashankar B.S., Dean (academics), requested parents to keep track of the academic performance of their children. Rashmi Bhandary, Head of Placements & Placement Training, gave insights about the importance of placements and training activities.

Students’ council: The students’ union council of undergraduate courses of Srinivas Institute of Management Studies was inaugurated recently.

Pavan Nijur, Assistant Commissioner of Police, South, Mangalore, gave away badges to student representatives.

Students’ association: Bhuvaneshwari Hegde, writer and teacher, inaugurated the students’ associations of Shree Bharathi College, and Shree Bharathi Pre-University College, Mangalore.

Parameshwar Bhat N., principal of the degree college, advised students on their responsibilities.
