Educational Testing Service (ETS) has announced its annual TOEFL scholarship to 10 exceptional Indian students with proven academic performance, excellence in English communication and leadership skills.

Candidates with a grade point average of 80 or more on a 100-point scale or 3.0 or higher on a 4-grade point scale, with a valid TOEFL score, are eligible, according to Jennifer Brown, executive director of the programme.

Each student will be awarded $7,000 that they can use for their undergraduate and graduate studies.

The candidates must begin their study between August 2014 and December 2015 at a university or college listed in the TOEFL destinations directory (www.toeflgoanywhere.org). In the last four years, $2,40,000 has been distributed in scholarship to students in India, Ms. Brown added.

Over 9,000 institutions in 130 countries recognise TOEFL scores for assessment of English proficiency.
