The institute is all geared to launch its two-year postgraduate course in management at its new campus.
Chennai Business Schoool (CBS), launched eight years ago by four CEOs has carved a name for itself in the field of management education.
Run by business leaders, the CBS adopts a contemporary approach to management education. Guided by the vision and direction of industry leaders, the CBS is all set to launch its Chennai School of Business Excellence (CSBE) to offer a AICTE-approved two-year postgraduate diploma in business management.
One of the co-founders of CBS, J N Amrolia, is now the director of the institution. He says the strength of CBS is its faculty. Specialisations are offered in four different verticals — HR, marketing, finance and international business.
“At CBS, 40 per cent of classes are handled by visiting faculty. This exposes students to various industries and also helps them gain first-hand experience.”
International business was introduced recently, keeping in mind the increasing demand for this vertical. Many Indian companies are acquiring and buying out assets/companies abroad. This demands that managers understand the way business is done in foreign countries. “Culture-related issues, employment laws, governance and global market are some of the areas covered in this, and students have to do one compulsory project abroad as it helps them gain exposure,” says Mr. Ambrolia.
The CSBE, established at Sri City, near Chennai, will enable close industry interaction in terms of internship and placement.
Setting up a campus in an integrated business city, has its advantages. Executive development programmes can be offered and the availability of guest faculty is also an advantage. “We at CSBE are focussing on industry relevant curriculum in order to transform students into a ready workforce. Mere conceptual knowledge may not help,” Mr Ambrolia says.
The two-year PGDBM will offer specialisation in finance, marketing and HR. Graduates from any discipline with either CAT, MAT or GMAT scores are eligible to apply. Selection will be based on interview.
The academic year begins in June-July. The intake will be 120 students for the first batch. For details, log on to www.cbs.org.in. Phone: +91-044-42424242.
