NIIT University to start this week

Education services provider NIIT today said it will formally inaugurate its first university this week and plans to enrol 5,000 students annually in the next five years.

“Our first NIIT University will open at Nimrana, Rajasthan, this weekend. To start with, we will have 400 students and our plan is to increase annual enrolment to 5,000 students in the next five years,” NIIT chairman Rajender Pawar told PTI on the sidelines of the India Economic Summit.

He said the university will start with a few selected disciplines, including science, education and biotechnology. “Our focus would be on increasing the number of disciplines in the years to come. We will next open a business school and then introduce other courses,” he added.
