A movie CD being released at St. Philomena College, Puttur.

Movie CD released: Students of the Department of Computer Science, St. Philomena College, Puttur, and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology, Puttur, have jointly produced a movie titled ‘Model’. Its CD was released at a function at St. Philomena College recently. Vipin Rai of St. Philomena College and Sujith S. Patali of Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology have directed it.

Speaking on the occasion Leo Noronha, Principal, St. Philomena College, asked students to involve themselves in creative activities.

Table tennis tournament: Shree Devi Institute of Technology, Mangalore, organised the VTU Mangalore zone inter-collegiate table tennis tournament recently. Francis Xavier Gomes, administrator, Milagres education institutes, inaugurated it. In the men’s section, Canara Engineering College won the first prize and Sahyadri Engineering College bagged the second prize. In the women’s section, NMAMIT, Nitte, won the first place and VCET, Puttur, came second.

Ornamental fish: College of Fisheries, Mangalore, and the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA), Kochi, jointly organised a three-day training on “Ornamental fish production and marketing” on the college campus recently. Lakshminatha Reddy, General Manager, Corporation Bank, Mangalore, inaugurated the programme. In his inaugural address, he said though ornamental fish rearing is a lucrative activity, banks have not considered it as an enterprise. Banks should recognise it as agri-business and provide financial support, he said.

H. Shivananda Murhty, Professor and Head, Department of Aquaculture, presided over the function.

Planning Forum: The Planning Forum of the Post-Graduate Department of Economics, St. Philomena College, Puttur, was inaugurated by Shama Bhat, Vice-Principal, Sacred Heart College, Madanthyar, recently.

Antony Prakash Monteiro, Campus Director and Chairperson of PG Studies, asked students to have proper plans to lead a successful life. Prabhakar Shishila, Head of the Post-graduate Department of Economics, and Dinakara Rao, Coordinator, were present.

The Fine Arts Association of the college organised a workshop on drawing, painting and collage recently.
