Workshop
PES Institute of Technology (PESIT) and U.S.-based Massachusetts Institute of Technology conducted a LAB design and innovation workshop recently. It concluded with an exhibition where the students displayed the models they had created. Around 200 research scholars and students from across the country took part in the five-day event.
According to a press release, the workshop was conducted with the aim of inspiring the youth towards research and to engage them proactively in designing a better future.
The selection of students was made online where interested students applied and MIT professionals selected the best students.
Hyundai Global Youth Marketing Camp 2013
“Hyundai Global Youth Marketing Camp 2013”, an initiative by Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) to nurture and honour some of the best talent across the globe, is back. This year, 30 students from 15 B-schools in India will be selected to represent their colleges and India at the camp in Seoul, South Korea.
Representatives from Hyundai conducted several rounds of competition at the Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship (XIME), Bangalore, to select two students who would be a part of the 30-member Indian contingent.
After group discussions and presentations, Merin Mandanna and Rishi Manchanda were declared the winners from XIME. These students will join the winners from ISB (Hyderabad), IMT (Ghaziabad) and MDI (Gurgaon), to form the team from India.
Hyundai’s Global Youth Marketing Camp is an opportunity for these students to represent their country in South Korea and participate in a cross-cultural market study for the brand and to familiarise themselves with the global automobile industry.
The weeklong camp, starting from February 25, will have a participation of 80 students from China, India and Korea.
Graduation day
It was a nostalgic and memorable moment for the graduating students of Christ Junior College on their graduation day recently. Cricketer Anil Kumble, who was the guest, encouraged the students to excel in their fields, and develop discipline, dedication and devotion in their chosen careers. The graduating students also pledged to uphold and cherish such values. A cultural programme was also conducted on this occasion.
Workshop
The Department of MCA and ECE of MVJ College of Engineering organised a workshop for more than 150 students of Government Polytechnic College and Government Pre-University College, Kadugodi, on “C for Beginners” and “Basics of Electronics” on the campus recently.
The workshop had four sessions spread across two days, including finding logical solutions to problems through algorithms and flowcharts, introduction of C programming, and introduction of data types, operators and expressions.
Training programme
A training programme was conduct for 21 faculty members of Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College for Women, Malleswaram, earlier this month.
The main purpose of the workshop was to bring out the leadership qualities within the teachers to achieve optimum and efficiency in the designated role.
The training helped participants engage with each other through conversations, storytelling, enacting skits, visualising ideal situations and sharing experiences through the course of the three days.
Faculty development
M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bangalore, organised a four-day Faculty Development Programme on ‘Virtualisation and Cloud Computing’ under the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP-II).
Badrinath Ramamurthy, Technical Architect, HP, Bangalore, was the guest of honour.
He inaugurated the programme and spoke on knowledge sharing, encouragement of student projects, participation in conferences, and the need for small workshops in colleges to bring student projects to light.
Alumni reunion
NTTF Bangalore alumni held their reunion recently. The launch of the “3i” (Interact-Inspire-Involve) movement to encourage the alumni to interact closely with the alma mater and share their success stories and inspire the next generation was the highlight of the day.
