The Debut Oration is to be delivered by Dr. Mihir Shah, Member of the Planning Commission, Government of India.
XLRI- Xavier School of Management will be organising the first-ever “Dr Verghese Kurien Memorial Oration on Sustainable Development” in memory of the Founder of AMUL Dr. Verghese Kurien, otherwise known as “the Milkman of India” on January 31, 2014 at the XLRI Campus, Jamshedpur.
This debut oration on Dr Kurien aims to inspire budding social entrepreneurs to inculcate the values and entrepreneurial spirit of ‘Father of the White Revolution’ in India and will be the highlight of the ‘ 6th National Conference on Social Entrepreneurship’ at XLRI beginning on the same day.
The oration is to be delivered by Dr. Mihir Shah, the youngest ever Member of the Planning Commission Government of India, holding the portfolios of Water Resources, Rural Development and De-centralised Governance.
The 6th National Conference on Social Entrepreneurship themed on ‘Rethinking Development: Strengthening the Grassroots’, aims to explore and create a platform to showcase and learn from initiatives and social ventures which are promoting a holistic and “grounds-up” model of development.
Organised by Fr Arrupe Centre for Ecology and Sustainability (FACES) and SIGMA, XLRI’s students’ committee for social initiatives, the conference will witness 150-200 social entrepreneurs showcase various social ventures which have developed and implemented innovative community-led and owned models of development.
