DAAD scholarships

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is offering scholarships for Indian students and research scholars to pursue higher studies in Germany.

Applicants will get a chance to collaborate in projects with German scientists, researchers and practitioners in a wide variety of areas. These scholarships are granted for a wide range of study areas — International Relations, Public Management, Technology to Language and Literature.

University academics and scientists from India on active duty who want to carry out a research project at a State (public) or State-recognised higher education institution or non-university research institute in Germany can apply for research stay scholarships. The duration of the stay is from one month to three months.

The applicant should be a university academic or scientist on active duty, who should generally hold a doctorate/Ph.D.

The application form is available on the website www.daaddelhi.org . The deadline for submission of applications is October 1, at DAAD New Delhi Office.

Ph.D & post-doc scholarships

The application submission process is online. The link to these scholarships is at www.daaddelhi.org. The deadline for submission of applications is October 1 each year at DAAD New Delhi Office.

For the Ph.D scholarships, the target group is highly-qualified postgraduates from any discipline. To be eligible, the applicant must have a first class master’s degree, with not more than six years gap between the award of last degree and application deadline, and the candidates must have a recent dated acceptance letter from a German professor. Duration is three years.

Post-doctoral scholarships are for young researchers and recent post-doctoral scholars, teachers and scientists at Indian universities and research institutions from any discipline, to undertake a research project — with no degree awarded. Not more than four years gap between award of Ph.D and application deadline is required. Candidates must have a recent dated acceptance letter from a German professor. Duration is one to six months.

Sandwich, short-term scholarships

Scholars registered for Ph.D (any discipline) at universities or research institutes in India are eligible to apply for the sandwich model scholarship.

Those with a first class master’s degree and Ph.D registration in India, not older than three years are eligible. Candidates must have a recent-dated acceptance letter from a German professor. Duration is one year.

Short-term scholarships for Ph.D-registered scholars is open for scholars registered for Ph.D at universities or research institutes in India. Candidates must be at an advanced stage of Ph.D research at the time of application and the Ph.D registration in India must not be older than three years.

Candidates must have a recent-dated acceptance letter from a German professor. Duration is two to three months.
