Moot court

M.S. Ramaiah College of Law organised the M.S. Ramaiah Memorial fifth National Moot Court Competition recently.

It was inaugurated by N. Kumar, Judge, High Court of Karnataka. T.R. Subramanya, Vice-Chancellor, Karnataka State Law University, Hubli, was the guest of honour.

The finale was judged by Ram Mohan Reddy, Jawad Rahim, L. Narayana Swamy, B.V. Nagarathna and B. Manohar, all sitting judges of the High Court of Karnataka.

Students of Jindal Global Law School, Haryana, were declared as the winners.

Upasitavya 2014

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Medical College organised the 28th graduation ceremony “Upasitavya 2014”. C.N. Manjunath, Director, Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, and S. Sachidananda, Registrar ( Evaluation), Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, were the guests.

Eleven medals for academic excellence were conferred on the outgoing doctors.

Seminar

School of Commerce, Reva University, Bangalore, organised a one-day seminar in connection with ‘World Consumer Rights Day’ with the theme “Fix our phone rights.” The seminar was organised to promote the rights of all consumers and tell the students of management how important consumer satisfaction is.

The chief guest, Sibichen K. Mathew, Advisor, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, spoke about the importance of consumer satisfaction in the telecom sector. He told the students that they should be updated with the latest technology and its positive usage.

The meritorious students were felicitated in the presence of P. Shyamaraju, Chancellor, Reva University, among others.

Collaboration

CMR University (CMRU) is collaborating with IBM to offer undergraduate and graduate-level programme curricula focused on Cloud Computing, Business Analytics and IT Applications in Finance/Management, to provide students with the skills needed for jobs in these fields.

A release said as part of IBM’s Innovation Centre for Education Programme, IBM will provide CMR University the design and delivery of innovative curricula integrated with a Learning Management System from IBM’s business partner.

Degrees will be awarded by the university. The agreement includes curriculum consultancy with IBM and co-development of courseware.

The students will be able to access online course material, discussion forums and other online collaborative functionalities including their project work. IBM will also offer Train-the-Teacher workshops to the faculty, along with webinars and seminars by connecting industry subject matter experts.

Graduation

The graduation day of MVJ Medical College and Research Hospital for the MBBS students of the batch of 2008 was held recently. Two gold medals of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in Pathology and Paediatrics were awarded to students of the college. 27 ranks have been taken by six students from the college. The degrees were handed over to 87 graduating students by M.C. Mishra, Director, All India Institute of Medical Sciences.

Prize

The students of Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology (NMIT), Bangalore, have won prizes in the Legged Mobile Botix in the Indo-U.S. Robo League, a national-level robotics competition organised by Technophilia Systems in association with Robotics and Computer Applications Institute of USA (RCAi-USA), which was held during the technical fest ‘Aagomani 2014’ at IIT Bombay.

The NMIT students, having won the national round, i.e. Indo-US Robo League, have now qualified to represent India in the world’s largest robot competition, ROBOGAMES 2014, to be held in April in San Mateo, California. The event will see the participation of students from more than 30 countries.

Awarded

Two students of the Visual Arts Department of Bangalore University were awarded the National Award for 2013-14 by the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi.

Sanjeeva Rao Guthi and Srinivasa Reddy completed Master of Visual Arts in 2012.

The award includes Rs. 1 lakh and a citation. Shivkumar, a student from the same department, won the award in 2010, a release said.

Panel discussion

The Department of Human Development, Smt. VHD Central Institute of Home Science, is organising a panel discussion on ‘Promoting health, fire and civil defence measures in early childhood centres’ on April 1 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the college, Seshadri Road, Bangalore.
