CII education summit

CII-Institute of Quality, Bangalore, is hosting its 16th edition of the National Summit on Quality in Education at Bangalore with the theme “Smart Measurements for a Sustainable Educational Institution” on September 27 and 28 on the Christ University campus. The NSQE attendees will explore why, how and the need of measurements of practices in educational institutions; measuring the effectiveness of learning spaces; and assessing institutional effectiveness for assuring quality learning and data- driven decision making, a release said.

The session will cover the following topics: Measurement in education: Approaches, challenges & way forward; Measuring curriculum effectiveness: The foundation for learning; Creating & effectively utilising learning spaces; Looking beyond education sector for learning; Assessing institutional effectiveness for assuring quality learning; Anytime anywhere data for effective institution management; and Data-driven decision making in education: Way forward.

The summit will include speakers from Stanford University, Government of India, Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, Central Board of Secondary Education, University Grants Commission, Planning Commission, Government of Karnataka, Knowledge and Human Development Authority, Dubai, Quality Council of India, Tata Consultancy Services, CTS India Pvt. Ltd., Centre for Assessment, Evaluation & Research, TVS School Madurai, and Macmillan Education.

Management fest

Esprit, an international two-day management fest hosted by the Department of Management Studies, Christ University, themed after ‘The fourth dimension,’ will be held in the city on September 23 and 24 on the varsity campus, Bangalore. The events include wealth management, human resources, marketing, the entrepreneur, Venn, business quiz, public relations and best manager.

Youth competition

The city finals of the IDFC Foundation’s youth campaign titled ‘In Our Hands’ was held at IFIM Business School recently with the participation of students from more than 25 colleges. The winners from the 15 cities would participate in the India Finals to be held towards the end of the year. Students of Azim Premji University won the debate competition and the team from The Oxford College of Science won the quiz competition.

Inviting applications

Global Strategy and Management Academy is inviting applications for its Advanced Master’s Programme in Management of Global Strategies for the second batch commencing in February 2014. GSM Academy offers a 14-month course for the new age global managers, entrepreneurs and CEOs to bridge the knowledge gap in global strategies and management skills. Candidates with bachelors’ degree, 8-10 years or more professional experience in technical /managerial capacity, middle to senior management position in business organisations, entrepreneurs with comparable background, or candidates with exceptional record can be considered on individual merit. Moot Court

The School of Law, Christ University, inaugurated its fourth annual national moot court competition on September 12 at the Christ University auditorium. The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Ravivarma Kumar, Advocate-General, Karnataka.

Dr. Fr. Thomas C. Mathew, Vice-Chancellor of Christ University, Fr. Benny Thomas, Director, School of Law, and Dr. Somu C.S., Associate Dean and Head of the Department, School of Law, were present during the inauguration. Over 45 law schools participated.

TCS Chevening Scholarship

Tata Consultancy Services has partnered with the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) of the United Kingdom Government to create the Chevening-TCS Scholarship on Cyber Policy for professionals in diverse fields from India. This will be the world’s first cyber security and public policy education programme. It is targeted at outstanding mid-career professionals who have the potential to be leaders in their chosen fields. In the first year, six Indian nationals will be selected to undergo a 12-week programme in the U.K. The programme will run for an initial period of three years, with the first course expected to start in February 2014.

The curriculum for the Chevening-TCS Scholarship on Cyber Policy has been conceptualised by TCS and the FCO. The detailed course will be developed by Cranfield University.
