Applications have been invited for admission to the B.Ed. course conducted by the University of Kerala at the university colleges of teacher education.
The colleges are at Kumarapuram (ph: 0471 255 7703), Karyavattom (0471 241 3855) and Nedumangad (0472 281 4270) in Thiruvananthapuram district; Kollam (0474 279 2684), Anchal (0475 227 1346) and Kulakkada (0474 261 5435) in Kollam district; Aryad (0477 223 3435), Kunnam (0479 235 6324) and Kayamkulam (0479 – 2448160) in Alappuzha; and Adoor (04734 – 229020) in Pathanamthitta.
Mathematics and Physical Science are offered as optional subjects in all colleges; Natural Science in all colleges except the one at Karyavattom; Social Science in all colleges except the one at Kunnam; English in all colleges except the one at Kulakkada; Hindi only in those at Nedumangad, Kollam, Alappuzha and Kayamkulam; Malayalam in all colleges except those at Kollam and Kayamkulam; Sanskrit and Home Science at Kumarapuram only; Arabic only at Alappuzha and Kayamkulam; and Commerce only at Kumarapuram, Kariavattom, Kulakkada and Alappuzha.
Those who have passed the BA or B.Sc. examination with at least 50 per cent marks in Part III or 50 per cent in Part I English or Part II second language with a Master’s degree in the subject concerned with not less than 50 per cent marks may apply. For Commerce, the entry qualification is M.Com. degree with not less than 50 per cent marks and for Home Science, M.Sc. degree in Home Science, both with 50 per cent marks. A relaxation of 3 per cent marks in the qualifying examination is allowed for Other Backward Caste applicants. Applicants belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes require 35 per cent marks.
Application forms can be downloaded from www.keralauniversity.ac.in and submitted, along with documents and a university pay-in-slip for Rs. 250 or a demand draft for Rs. 260 from the State Bank of Travancore or the State District Co-operative Bank at Thiruvananthapuram, to the Principal of the college before July 25.
Applicants belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes may pay Rs. 100 in pay-in-slip and Rs. 110 in demand draft.
