The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has invited applications for the All India Engineering/Architecture Entrance Examination (AIEEE) to be held on April 29 at centres in India and abroad for admission to BE or B.Tech, B.Arch., and B.Planning courses at several institutions, including the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) such as those in Kozhikode and Tiruchirapalli; the Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs); and some deemed universities.

For those who choose the online mode, available only for BE or B.Tech. admissions, the test will be held from May 7 to 26. In Kerala, Kozhikode is the only offline test centre. For the online examination, Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam are centres.

Those who have passed Plus Two or equivalent examinations with physics, chemistry, and mathematics as optional subjects during 2010 or 2011, and those who are appearing for the examination during 2012, may apply. The applicants should have been born on or after October 1, 1987. In the case of applicants belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes and those physically challenged, the date is October 1, 1982. Detailed eligibility criteria are given on www.aieee.nic.in.

Applications can be submitted online till December 31 on the website. The online examination fee is Rs.500 for BE or B.Tech. admission test. For taking B.Arch. and B.Planning entrance test too, remit Rs.1,100. For the reserved sections, the fees are Rs.250 and Rs.550, respectively.

The offline examination fee is Rs.800 for BE or B.Tech. tests. For taking B.Arch. and B.Planning tests too, pay Rs.1,400. For reserved sections, the fees are Rs.400 and Rs.700, respectively.

Those who choose examination centres abroad have to pay Rs.2,000 and Rs.1,000, respectively, for BE or B.Tech. and B.Arch. and B.Planning courses. The examination fee should be paid in the form of a demand draft drawn from a nationalised or scheduled bank, payable in Delhi, in favour of the Secretary, CBSE, Delhi.

Confirmation page of the online application, along with the demand draft and true copies of certificates, should be sent as per guidelines by registered post to the Assistant Secretary (AIEEE), PS 1-2, Institutional Area, Patparganj, Delhi – 110 092 so as to reach the addressee on or before January 5.

Paper 1 of the test consists of objective-type questions with equal weight to physics, chemistry, and mathematics. It will be held from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. on April 29 for the offline test. Paper 2, exclusively for B.Arch. and B.Planning admissions, will have objective-type questions from mathematics, besides aptitude and drawing tests. This will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The online tests will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
