New: Srinivasan Charitable Trust was inaugurated in Perungathur recently

Srinivasan Charitable Trust, a voluntary body, was inaugurated on June 17 with distribution of cash awards and felicitation of students from schools in Perungalathur and Peerkankaranai areas who had topped in the public examinations this year.

The Trust is named in the memory of K.Srinivasan, a young and dymanic person, well known in the two localities, who passed away some months ago. His close relatives and friends have come together to start the Trust. R. Mahalakshmi, Dean (Academics), G.K.M.Group of Educational Institutions and A.V. Sampath Kumar and S. Sekar, Chairmen of Peerkankaranai and Perunglathur Town Panchayats respectively, and S. Valayapathy, former Chairman of Peerkankaranai, were among others present on the occasion.

R. Ranjana and S. Krithika of Zion Matriculation Higher Secondary Schooland S. Srinath of St. Anne’s Matriculation of Plus Two, S. Anand of Anand Jain Vidyalaya and N. Preethi and Adarsh of St. Anne’s Matriculation School of Class X – all residents of Perungalathur were felicitated on the occasion. P. Kanchana, a visually challenged student who scored 378 marks in the Class X examinations received a special prize on the occasion.

Merit scholarships were handed over to 35 deserving students. A.K. Raghupathy, Trustee, welcomed the gathering.

Gokulam Raghavan also spoke on the occasion. K. Vijayaraghavan, managing trustee, proposed a vote of thanks, while G. Raman, councillor, Perungalathur Town Panchayat, made the concluding remarks.
