Going by last week’s job listings on Naukri.com, there is a reason to cheer for those in the IT sector. The job portal reported 11,429 IT openings. Of them, most jobs were found in the area of software development (2,333) followed by team and technical leads (673). The listing confirms recent reports of intense hiring expected in the IT and IT-enabled services sector up to December.

Naukri.com’s JobSpeak Index, a monthly report about the hiring trends in the market across sectors, also reflects a positive outlook. “The index is showing an upward trend. Of all the sectors, the IT and ITES are likely to lead the game. If you look at the JobSpeak Index of September 2013 and September 2014, a growth of 34 per cent has been recorded this year. The bullish global economy is a major reason for this positive outlook in the job market. Also there was a lot of optimism ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit to the U.S. The IT and ITES sectors will definitely pull the string up for the Indian market,” says V. Suresh, executive chief sales officer, Naukri.com

MyHiringClub.com also carried out a survey recently in which the IT sector was found to have the highest hiring prospects. According to the survey, the employment outlook for the sector, from October to December, is 47 per cent.

Studying the listings at Naukri.com, there is noticeable hiring activity in the BPO, banking and automobile sectors as well. The portal has listed 2,805 positions in the BPO sector. A great number of these openings were found in the customer service segment.

The banking sector had 1,783 job openings, of which 281 were meant for sales managers and executives. Suresh says the growth in banking and telecom sectors will be the result of rural penetration. The automobile industry also displayed a positive trend with around 1,042 openings, of which 364 were in the production, manufacturing and maintenance verticals. More specifically, there were 56 job listings for production managers. “We are hoping for a turnaround for this sector during the festive season,” he adds.

There are a good number of jobs in the teaching and training sector. Under this, 1332 openings were listed for private tutors, counsellors and trainers. Under the pharma and human resource sectors, 857 and 811 job vacancies were listed on the website.

There are 485 jobs under the retail industry, where the demand for sales executives is high. Around 425 media jobs were listed. Of them, 55 were journalism-related.

Apart from these, Naukri.com believes healthcare sector and SMAC (Social, Mobile, Analytics and Cloud services) would be game changers as there is a lot of traction on this segment. “We are expecting many more start-ups, which will create more job opportunities in India. Also, the health-care sector will do well in the long-term perspective,” says Suresh.
