It will focus on course options, career opportunities and so on
It is time for admissions, and for a large number of students who have just completed their examinations and are on the verge of making a career choice, these are testing times. The Hindu EducationPlus career guidance session will be of help to you.
The career guidance session will be held at the Nutana Ravindra Mantapa on the MGM College campus here from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
It is for the second consecutive year that the career guidance session is being held in Udupi. An off-page extension of your weekly supplement The Hindu EducationPlus, the event is titled “Charting Your Course”.
National Research Professor and former Vice-Chancellor of Manipal University M.S. Valiathan will inaugurate the session and release a 124-page handbook on career options, “Charting Your Course”. He will also speak on “Choosing the right career”.
The second session will demystify the professional college admission process. Karnataka Examinations Authority official Shrutha Kirthi Raja will make a presentation on CET admissions, while Assistant Professor, R.V. College of Engineering, D. Ranganath will make a presentation on the COMED-K admission process. This will be followed by an interactive session where students and parents can get their doubts cleared.
A presentation by Ameen Mudassar, founder of Cigma Foundation (our knowledge partner), on career options, followed by a talk on educational loan schemes by an official of the State Bank of India, will conclude the session.
In the third session, experts will reply to questions from students on a variety of topics, ranging from medicine, dental sciences, engineering, soft skills and foreign education to funding education.
The panellists are Dean of Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, P. Sripathi Rao; Associate Dean of Manipal College of Dental Sciences Keerthilatha M. Pai; Associate Director of Manipal Institute of Technology Vinod V. Thomas; Dean (Academics) of NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte, B.S. Samaga; Professor in Marketing Management at T.A. Pai Management Institute, Manipal, R.C. Natarajan, and Mr. Mudassar.
In addition, students will take home a free copy of “Charting Your Course”, a well-researched publication that contains a wide range of expert articles mapping trends. It offers guidance on careers ranging from pure mathematics and space engineering to animation and design. It will help students choose the right college and even offers a four-step plan to improve soft skills.
Students who have completed or are studying in class X, second year pre-university course or class XII are invited.
