Certificate programme in Supply Chain Management

The Karnataka Law Society’s Institute of Management Education & Research (IMER), which has been consistently rated as among the B-Top (business schools) in India and among the top ten in Karnataka by various prestigious institutions like Competition Success Review, has embarked on commencing a ‘Certificate Programme in Supply Chain Management’ as part of its year long ‘silver jubilee’ celebrations commenced on September 16.

The schedule of the CPSCM programme, which is recognised by the University Grants Commission, is to be announced shortly.

Given that the logistics and supply chain management was crucial for both the trade and industry and various other services, the emerging trends calls for professional approach to deliver goods and services efficiently and in the shortest possible time from the point of take off and to the customer. The programme thus, aims at providing trained human resource to this sector which had grown on a vast scale during recent few decades of liberalised and globalised economy, says IMER Director Purshottam Bung.

The KLS IMER will shortly sign a MoU with Confederation of Indian Industry-Institute of Logistics, Chennai to start the Learner Facilitation Centre on its campus in Belagavi city to take up the certificate programme for its existing students, besides those from other institutes and also for employed persons as well.

The minimum eligibility for the programme is a degree (any) for a student and industry experience for employed candidates.

Subjects: The Certificate Programme would essentially span over a period of six months in Supply Chain Management where the students would study Supply chain concepts & planning, Materials & inventory management, Purchasing and strategic-sourcing and Marketing channel design & distribution planning.

The students would pursue the course in virtual classrooms conducted by the faculty from CII for a total of 80 hours and appear examination after six months. The value addition comes from the CII faculty who would also visit the institute and provide books to the students.

Benefits: The course ensures periodic e-updates with logistics and supply chain news and employment opportunities in logistics and supply chain domain, will have access to periodical webinar by industry expert from CII network, information about CII institute of logistics industry conferences, free subscription to CII e-newsletter, access to select knowledge sessions delivered by CII nominated subject matter experts, opportunity to register student forums for research, education and networking purposes and to demonstrate student capabilities to industry members through CII institute of logistics Newsletter, besides access to CII journal and special publications. All these would help the students to equip and face placement interviews with CII certification courses. The CII-IL would also assist IMER for placements of its successful students in the field of logistics.

Nominal fee: Dr.Bung says the management had ensured nominal fee of Rs.10,000 plus 14 per cent service tax so that the course was affordable to a large number of students.
