Career guidance: registration counters opens on Thursday

The Hindu will open counters at the Mar Thoma Residential School (MTRS) auditorium in Thiruvalla on Thursday and Friday for students to register their names for The Hindu-EducationPlus career guidance programme to be held on June 5.

The Hindu is extending its well-acclaimed annual comprehensive career guidance session, for students aspiring to join various professional courses after their Plus Two, to the Central Travancore town of Thiruvalla this year as part of the newspaper's social commitment.

The session will be held at the MTRS auditorium on the Thiruvalla-Kuttappuzha road from 9.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. on June 5. Eminent educationalists and experts in the field of career guidance and counselling will lead the programme.

Registration process

Students can attend the programme after registering their names. They may provisionally register their names online at eptiruvalla@thehindu.co.in and pay the registration fee of Rs.50 at the venue on June 5 morning. Parents are also permitted to attend the programme along with their wards. They may also register their names in advance at the counters to be kept opened from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the auditorium on May 27 and 28.

State Bank of Travancore is the presenting sponsor of the event. The Cooperative Academy of Professional Education and Shadwells are the associate sponsors. Kairali TV is the TV partner and Club FM the radio partner of the event.

The session will mainly focus on the dos and don'ts as well as strategies relating to the online seat allotment process conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, besides providing an overview of the key courses.

Registration could be made on June 5 morning too on payment of a fee of Rs.50.

Handbook

The participants will be given an informative handbook carrying details of various professional courses.

The Hindu-EducationPlus has made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the programme in Thiruvalla.

The programme, ‘Courses & Choices - Sessions on the Professional Streams and More,' will be held at six centres across the State. The other five centres are Hotel Calicut Tower, Mavoor Road in Kozhikode (May 27); A.J. Hall, Kaloor in Kochi (May 29); Tagore Centenary Theatre in Thiruvananthapuram (May 30); Hotel Royal Omars in Kannur (June 9); and Woodbine Restaurant in Manjeri (June 10).
