As many as 14,640 candidates will appear for the Civil Services preliminary examinations (2014) at 31 centres in the city on Sunday.

At a review meeting held here on Tuesday, Examination Coordinator and District Collector M. Raghunandan Rao directed the authorities to make elaborate arrangements and follow the instructions issued by the UPSC for conducting the examination.

The examinations would be conducted in two sessions – one in the morning and the other in the afternoon - and candidates should report at the venue at 9.10 a.m. and 2.10 p.m. Doors of examination halls will be closed after 9.40 a.m. during the morning session and at 2.40 p.m in the afternoon session. There will be no relaxation in terms of allowing candidates into the examination centres after the prescribed time. Those failing to carry e-admissions certificates will not be allowed to enter the venues, and candidates will not be permitted to leave the halls till the examination is completed, the Collector said.

He instructed the authorities to thoroughly check photo identity cards, signature and e-admission certificates of the candidates before permitting them into the centres. Candidates are restricted from carrying mobile phones and other electronic gadgets into the examination halls, and those carrying such equipment should take care of their belongings as there is no provision for storing them at the centres, Mr. Rao said.

He directed the liaison officers to examine the arrangements a day in advance. He also wanted them to attend the training programme to be conducted for invigilators on Saturday at respective centres.

For the convenience of candidates appearing for the examinations, APSRTC will operate more than 50 special services from railway and bus stations and other places to the 31 examination centres, said a press release.
