It is admissions time and there is never one answer to a question about the best college or course for a student.

The Hindu Education Plus Career Fair 2013, to be held on Friday and Saturday at Chennai Trade Centre in Nandambakkam, will attempt to address the concerns of students and parents.

The chief guest at the event will be D. Shantharam, vice-chancellor, The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, and G. Viswanathan, chancellor of VIT University.

Besides lectures on engineering, medicine and IT, there will be information on a range of off-beat courses that students can pursue.

Arun Krishnamurthy of The Tree Foundation will look at environment-related career courses, and S. Vaidhyasubramaniam, dean-planning & development, Sastra University, will deliver a lecture on law and legal studies.

K. Nirmala Prasad, principal of M.O.P. Vaishnav College for Women, will talk about careers in arts and sciences.  There will also be lectures on media, defence, civil services and others.

Entry is free and a free shuttle service will be available from Guindy railway station, Tambaram (near Kalaimagal School) and opposite Koyambedu bus terminus between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
