Management development programme

Mount Carmel Institute of Management (MCIM), in association with Pramartha Investment Partners, an actuarial analytics firm, and Brand Update, a brand consulting firm, organised a management development programme on ‘Consumer insights through big data analytics.’ The event was inaugurated by Shankar Murukutla, Director-Sales (South Asia), Map R Technologies, Singapore. Sr. Arpana, Director, MCIM, delivered the presidential address. The delegates expressed the need for more such programmes in future to enrich them further on Big Data.

Anniversary

Sree Swaminarayan Gurukul International School and PU College, Bengaluru, organised its fourth Patotsav (anniversary) of Ghanshyaham Maharaj and the ninth annual cultural programme on the theme ‘Swachh Bharat.’ H.K. Nagaraj, neurologist and surgeon at M.S. Ramaiah Medical College and Hospital, was the chief guest for the occasion.

Vivekananda Jayanti

Vivekananda Jayanti was celebrated at Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, Bengaluru. Veteran scholar on Vivekananda literature B.A. Chandrakaladevi inaugurated the programme and IT expert Radhakrishna Holla delivered the keynote address.

Automotive safety competition

Two engineering students, Preetham Kumar H. and Nikhil M., participated in an automotive safety competition and made presentations on the topic “Innovative concept of evacuation slides for heavy passenger vehicles during fire and accidents” at the Symposium on International Automotive Technology 2015 which was organised in association with the Automotive Research Association of India. More than 80 colleges participated in a poster-making competition where five posters were shortlisted for display.

SIAT had received around 700 abstracts, out of which around 500 were accepted and 215 manuscripts were shortlisted for publication. There were 44 keynote presentations over and above these.

There was also an industry-academia enclave where Chancellors and Vice-Chancellors discussed the road ahead in automotive education.
