National Folklore Support Centre (NFSC) has invited applications for Tata Fellowships for 2012-2013 in folklore for M.Phil scholars. Under this programme, the researcher has to document the folklore and tradition of a particular community. The fellowship carries a sum of Rs. 9,450 per month and another Rs. 9,450 per month for the artist of the community. In addition, a contingency of Rs. 50,000 per annum to cover conveyance and documentation expenses are also provided. The centre will coordinate with selected departments of universities and colleges in carrying out the research programme.

A research proposal carrying details regarding the objective of the research, the selected community, methodology to be adopted for the research, tools of data collection, monthly work plan and other relevant factors has to be sent.

The consent letter of the artist that he/she will facilitate the research and its documentation has to be attached with the proposal. Besides, the proposal should contain information such as name, educational qualification, research experience, contact address, and telephone number. Only Indian nationals will be selected for the fellowship and scholars who are above 55 years of age and retired scholars are not eligible.

The last date for sending in the application is July 10. The interview for shortlisted candidates will be held on August 10 at the Central University of Jharkhand, Brambe, Ranchi, Jharkhand. NFSC will organise a workshop for the selected candidates from August 8 to 10 at Central University of Jharkhand.
