It is a world of choice for toppers of the All India Engineering/Architecture Entrance Exam (AIEEE) test, results of which were declared on Saturday night. With most of them having already cleared engineering entrances, including JEE and BITSAT, it is now time for them to choose from the best colleges.
For Bharath Sivaram, a student of D.A.V. Boys Senior Secondary School, who topped the State in AIEEE, the test was just a back-up option. “The JEE test was not to my satisfaction. I made so many silly mistakes. I made sure I attempted AIEEE very carefully,” said the student who scored 326 marks out of 360, securing an all-India rank of 43. With an all India rank of 1,171 in JEE, he is quite confident of getting into IIT-Madras. Bharath has been preparing for these entrance tests for the last three years.
Another top scorer, Aravindh K., a student of Maharshi Vidya Mandir, who secured the third rank in the State with 321 marks said, “AIEEE is a little theoretical and has various exercise problems from the textbook. So, it is much easier than JEE which is challenging and often, fun.”
The second rank in the State went to P. Adarsh of D.A.V. Senior Secondary School, Mogappair. Aravind Srinivas who secured the fourth rank in the State, has an all-India ranking of 980 in JEE. “The online test made it easier for a lot of us because a lot of time was saved,” he said.
The top score, this year, is 346 out of 360, one mark more than last year's top score, which went to a candidate from New Delhi.
The test determines admission to nearly 23,676 seats for B.E./B.Tech and 855 seats for B.Arch/B.Planning in various institutions, such as the National Institutes of Technology, deemed universities, technical institutions and other government-funded institutions.
