A look at the theme parks near Chennai

With the mercury soaring high, water sports and games are back in demand at the amusement parks in the city. Visiting one of these parks with family has become a routine for the Ravindrans, from Cowlbazaar, near Pallavaram. This time around his family decided to visit EVP World, known for its water games and rides. He said that the fresh and clean waters gave his children a never before experience.

According to Balajee, marketing officer at EVP World, Pogo games are the most adventurous for both children and adults. They are sure to re-energise the visitors. While Wave pool and Lazy River store a bunch of surprises, the massive EVP Ocean, Rain Dancing and a separate swimming pools for adults and children are the all-time favourites. Have your lunch on a mega-sized boat in EVP Ocean. Kishkinta, a theme park on the southern suburbs, offers its visitors a variety of water games and rides.

The best of all is ‘Water Volcano,' in which five-lakh litres of water is unleashed from a 56-ft water tank through four hydraulic shutters. This is accompanied by screeching sound effect; thick white smoke, mist and simulated earthquake, a wonderful attraction at 2.45 p.m. At least 2,000 people can enjoy the Water Volcano at a time.

Artificial waterfalls

‘Chennai Kutralam,' an artificial waterfalls which uses stream water (recycled), is yet another water game that people must not miss, says one of the technicians at the park. Aqua Slide, Flume Ride, White Water Ride are the other games that people can enjoy. “Toddlers pool, Rain disco, boating on the lake, Go Karting and Water scooter are relaxing yet thrilling things to do at the park,” says Vishy, a technocrat, whom Downtown met at Kishkinta. With plenty of water replendished by lakes, Kishkinta is able to operate water rides un-interrupted throughout the season.

Landscape

Spread over 21 acres of land located on the banks of the Telugu Ganga Project Canal, in Mevallur Kuppam Village, Dash ‘N' Splash, has something for all age groups. With a beautiful landscape and lots of shade it is another place where family can spend a whole day. One can choose between the exciting Wave, Free-Fall, or Spiral. The slides at the park is exclusively for children and another highlights of the park is that it has a pure vegetarian cafeteria.

Situated 30 km from Chennai on the Chennai Bangalore Highway, Dash ‘N' Splash is open from 10 a.m.

Queen's Land, on Chennai-Bangalore Highway, offers many water rides, including Himalayan Water Ride. A vast boating area with high speed mechanised boats and the island created inside the lake are the other attractions for the visitors.
