Pinky Daga beleives in chemical-free natural cooking.

‘Happiness is Homemade’ is Pinky Daga’s baby. This resident of Chamiers Road and home cook started her line of homemade products a few months ago and is now retailing out to popular stores and supplying at restaurants in the area.

After organising several cookery workshops for kids and adults and experimenting with food, she realised that there were many who wanted chemical-free and natural food products. She decided to tap this market.

“I have been cooking for many years and have always used natural products. When I moved on to difficult dishes, I realised that most cookbooks and dishes used artificial colours and fruit flavours. I started cooking versions that involved all natural products,” says Pinky, who launched her line, after developing confidence that her products would have takers. Her specialities are 15 to 20 varieties of cakes and various kinds of breads including pesto, rosemary and focaccia bread. This apart, she also makes tea cakes, homemade chocolates and Indian sweets.

“Again, everything we use is natural. Even the fruit-based products have natural fruits and not the flavours,” says Pinky who works out of her home.

Pinky spent her childhood in Kolkatta and moved to South India after her marriage in 1992.

“Those days, there were not many restaurants that offered North Indian food. Having been married to a foodie, I had to try something new regularly. This encouraged me to experiment with various cuisines.” Currently she is retailing through Amma Naana and Gourmet market.

“I also supply my products to a restaurant called L'amandier. I plan to launch a new line of oils and encourage everyone to go natural,” she adds.
