Thirty-six-year-old Deepak John William loves food and this love has taken him to different parts of the world.

After working in the IT industry for a while, this MBA graduate felt something was missing in his life. He then decided to follow his heart and ventured into the food industry. He wanted to use his travel experience to give the city new dining experiences.

“I started  with ‘Dawn & Dusk’ in Nungambakkam with Sam Paul. After the success of that venture I wanted to create a space where people can enjoy Asian cuisines,” says Deepak.

Deepak loved the Goan food culture where people sit by the beach, in a shack and enjoy good food in a comfortable environment. He decided to open a restaurant that gives people the feel of Goa and called it Shaack.“There weren’t any Pan-Asia restaurants in this area one and a half years ago. I love the shack culture in Goa where people can enjoy a range of cuisines in a comfortable environment,” he adds.

To give the restaurant the look and character of a shack, wood-like tiles have been used. The menu suggests an effort to offer dishes from across Asian countries.

“Some of the dishes can be found only in this place. Our Cambodian Charcoal Grill Fish, Thai Crispy Chicken, Prawns Budapest, Puttanesca pasta, Rotion Lamb, Hot and Crispy Beef are very popular. Among the desserts, our Tender Coconut soufflé is one of the fastest selling dishes,” Deepak points out. There are also some South Indian dishes on the menu. Located at › F-36, KG Galaxy, 2nd Avenue, Above Fab India, Anna Nagar East, The restaurant is open from 11 am. It also home-delivers for free till 4 a.m., to areas within a five- km radius. For home-delivery beyond 5km, the purchase should be above Rs. 2,000.
