While taking a turn at a junction, motorists should switch to a lower gear and slow down. As an alarming number of motorists don’t follow this basic rule while taking a turn at the junction of East Coast Road and 22 East Street, Kamarajar Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur, road users have demanded the installation of speed breakers near the intersection.

Motorists coming from East Coast Road do not bother to reduce the speed of their vehicles while taking a turn at the junction and entering 22nd East Street.

Road users allege that bus drivers turn rashly and pedestrians have to be cautious not to be knocked down.

Though it is a one-way, undisciplined cyclists and motorists enter 22 East Street from South Avenue Road, which often result in near-miss collisions.

Motorists also try to overtake each other at the junction.

Speed breakers have to be installed as early as possible, before any untoward incident takes place, say residents.
