Manjushaa ( >www.manjushaa.com ), an online jewellery store offers exclusive collections from across the country. For sisters Ayshwarya and Soundarya, the facility was something that they were looking out for themselves. When they found people with same need, they decided to start one. “Given the traffic and busy lifestyle in Chennai, people would be more than happy to shop the easiest way – from home. There is also a dearth for a store where one can get a perfect mix of jewellery – traditional and contemporary,” says Soundarya revealing the spark behind the idea. “This strongly led us to believe that Chennai needs a good place for finding affordable ethnic and contemporary jewellery from the comfort of home and thus we started Manjushaa,” she says.

“We used to source and design our own jewellery and now we extend it to our customers,” says Soundarya. The customers can place order via e-mail and hold discussions through their various online link such as facebook, twitter and blog.

Soundarya, who has worked as assistant director in movies, utilises her experience in working on costumes, while Ayshwarya, who is into corporate communication, takes care of the new-age marketing and communication aspects. “We both are shopping buffs and love dressing up. People used to appreciate our dressing sense and the accessories we match them with. We are basically aware of what will go with what and that sense helps us in guiding our customers choose their jewellery,” says Soundarya. Manjushaa also offers personal guidance to customers in choosing the right accessories for their outfit on appointment basis. A unique aspect of Manjushaa is the Bridal Ensemble — option for brides to choose the matching accessories at one place. “Brides can bring their saris/outfit and get their jewellery. We handle one customer at a time, providing customised option with complete attention,” points out Soundarya.

Manjushaa has a collection of kundan, lac, antique and Victorian sets. The range includes anklets, armlets, bangles, chains, clips, clutches, earings, rings, sets, tikka, etc. The collection is sorted out accordingly on the website. “We travel a lot and bring the best ones and those in vogue for our customers,” says Soundarya. The jewelleries are procured from Delhi, Jaipur, Bombay and Hyderabad. Products from Rs. 400 to Rs. 3,000 are available here. “The price depends on the workmanship,” she says.

The sisters started the store in May 2009 and the online service helps customers abroad to choose their own jewellery, they say. The collections are updated every two months.
