When it rains, I want to be able to step out and take a walk. At present, the condition of the roads in my neighbourhood during the rainy season don’t allow me to do that.

I have to step into a pool of rainwater that is mixed with sewage.

Rain water harvesting systems should be extended to roads. By doing this, we can improve the ground water level and also prevent water stagnation.

Such a measure will also prevent breeding of mosquitos and the spread of vector-borne diseases.

Next, I would like to see my neighbourhood free of beggars. Some of these beggars are physically challenged. Some others, old.

There are the able-bodied who are found begging on our streets.

Steps should be taken to rehabilitate them, helping them be self-reliant by teaching them to earn a livelihood.

I also want to see the walls in my neighbourhood free of posters.

No place is spared. Posters of all kinds — marriage, birth or death anniversaries, advertisements and those related to politics — are found everywhere.

It mars the beauty of the neighbourhood.

In short, I want a clean, happy and peaceful neighbourhood.
