What could be the best thing to do after a shopping spree? If you’re an inveterate shopaholic, you may say ‘more shopping’. If you are like most people, you may want to have a bite or grab a glass of juice.

Big Sip in strategically located to find the shoppers looking for a healthy break. Dharani Shankar, managing director of this juice outlet in Pondy Bazaar – the shopping capital of Chennai, probably – says they have included items that nobody else offers.

The move is obviously aimed at dealing with the intense competition: Pondy Bazaar has a raft of juice outlets, all of which targeted at shoppers. He names two categories Cookie shakes and Yogurt shakes, under which are offered a variety of juices, many of them claimed to be unusual. On the menu, details about each of such drinks are given, leaving customers in no doubt about what they are sipping.

“Under Cookie Shake, we have cookie melt (melted golden butter cookies with ice cream ), cookie crunch (crushed oro cookies with vanilla icecreama and hershey’s) and cookie bliss (a chocolate cookie shake). Under Yogurt Shake section, there is strawberry, mango kiwi, elaichi and dry fruit,” he says, giving an idea of what is on offer.

Apart from this, the menu also includes drinks with quirky names like Toblerone Shake, Wolverine’s Special, King Size, Iron Man, Pure Sin and Big Fig Love. Dharani Shankar claims many top restaurants buy their fruit salads and shakes to sell them in their outlets. The company, whose COO is Hemant Mundra, also runs two Subway outlets in the city and has a Big Sip branch. He says, “The idea to open a juice outlet in T. Nagar was to cash in on the energy the neighbourhood has. The outlet here is spacious and children-friendly.”

Big Sip is located at Pondy Bazaar, Nair Road, Near Holy Angels School, T. Nagar.
