Every day we come across incidents where a woman is physically or sexually assaulted. Violence against women exists in every society and research supports the view that it begins at home. The assaulter shows his traits at an early age.

According to Sensei Maxwell Jude Anthony, ‘social defence’ is a method whereby violence against women is rooted out at its source.

“When a person takes an action against crime, poverty and other inhuman conditions, it is called ‘Self Defence’. When a society collectively takes an action to prevent injustice, we call it ‘social defence’. I have prepared a presentation on how to combat violence. Here, we will tell how not to react violently in difficult situations and how the society has to combat this plague,” says Maxwell.

Sujatha Natarajan, social worker, Vasantha Kumari, director of INCAD HR Services and R. Sivasailam will make the presentation. Squash player Aparajitha Balamurukan will be the chief guest.

There will be a session on palliative care by Shiatsu & Reflex Therapy presented by Sensei Maxwell. Social Defence and Women, a charity event by Kutastha Public Charitable Trust will be organised on March 29 at Hotel Savera, Radhakrishnan Salai. For details call 9841424981
