The Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) has earmarked bus bays for its fleet of route numbers at Chromepet bus stop.

The earmarked bus bays have put an end to overcrowding by the commuters at the spacious premises. Before these bus bays were allocated for route numbers, commuters used to run helter-skelter to board the buses. ∝Back then, they had no clue about where the buses would stop and, therefore, would race with others to board their buses.

During the rush hour, commuters would stand beside the traffic signal near the bus stop.

Now, the bus bays have been created on the basis on route numbers. Buses going towards Guindy, Adyar and Thiruvanmiyur and those others towards Pozhichalur, Pammal and Kundrathur will stop on an earmarked lane right next to the main thoroughfare of Grand Southern Trunk (G.S.T.) Road.

Buses going towards Guindy, Saidapet, DMS, TVS and Chennai Central and those others towards Ashok Nagar, Vadapalani and Koyambedu will stop inside the shelter of the bus stop. Bus bay keepers should be deployed to prevent entry of private vehicles into the bays, commuters pointed out.
