With a talented group of senior actors and several young faces in attendance, the location of director M. A. Nishad's ‘Best of Luck' is bustling with energy. Inside a plush bungalow near Vaikom, Prabhu, Jagathy Sreekumar, Urvashi, Kailash, Asif Ali, Rima Kallingal, Archana Kavi and Suraj Venjarammoodu get ready to face the camera.

“It's a youthful theme narrated in a lighter vein,” says Nishad. “The youngsters in the story see life lightly and are confident about their abilities, quite like the mindset of youth in these times,” adds Nishad.

‘Best of Luck' narrates the story of Surya (Kailash), the step-brother of a wealthy businessman named Vinayaka Naicker (Prabhu), a Chennai hotelier with a chain of hotels. Surya lives in a huge house in Kochi with Uthaman (Jagathy Sreekumar) and Shanghai Pushpan (Suraj), but only gets a paltry sum as pocket-money from Naicker.

Manu (Asif), an aspiring filmmaker and Surya's best friend, lives with him. Diya (Rima) is Manu's girlfriend and she hopes to make it big as an actor and model. Surya is in love with the wealthy Neethu (Archana), whose father is looking for a moneybags to be his daughter's beau.

Thamara (Urvashi) – a sort of a trickster – ingrains herself into this clique and a whole lot of confusion follows. On top of that when Naicker decides to visit Kochi for a vacation, the story takes some unexpected twists and turns.

“Kerala is like home for me and I love being here. My dad, Sivaji Ganesan, has a special place in the hearts of Malayalis and they all have extended that same affection to me as well,” smiles Prabhu, who was recently seen in a cameo role in Mammootty's ‘Pramani.'

“My dialogues in this film are in Tamil which makes things easier for me and it's a great atmosphere to work in, with all these youngsters around,” he adds.

Kailash too seems excited about the role. “Naicker loves Surya and though Surya has everything around him, he is perpetually short of money,” says Kailash about his character. Asif's character, meanwhile, “is cool and has many plans and dreams for his life.”

Rima Kallingal says that her character's life revolves around her friends. “She wanted to try her hand in films, but instead of reel life, she had to act in real life,” says the actor.

Archana's character Neethu, being the daughter of a multi-millionaire, is often the financier for the group like when they want to set up a a music band, for instance.

‘Best of Luck' is being produced under the banner of A&M Entertainments. Music is being composed by Palash Sen and his band, ‘Euphoria.' Cinematographer is Sanjeev Sankar. Stills are by Subhash Maheswar.
